December 2008

I have been contemplating starting a Blog for some time now and now that I have a few minutes, I think this will be the beginning. December is a crazy month for me and work. I have been working about 12-15 hours a day and around 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday. To sum that all up, I am EXHAUSTED. Then, on top of all of that, I have to decorate and still run two very active boys to their basketball practices. I was able to get the Christmas tree up and the lighted Candy Canes in the windows but that is all for this year. I finished up my shopping last night - YEAH!! Now on to the rest of the family......

Brady is now 11 and in Middle School. He made the Middle School basketball team for Mt. Savage and practices three days a week. Last weekend, we went to Winchester, VA for a tournament. We didn't do too well but we also played 13 year olds. They took the weekend as a learning experience and we are determined to go back again next year.

Marcus is 9 and in the 3rd grade. He is your typical 3rd grader - video games and playing with friends. He is also playing basketball for the Frostburg Youth Basketball League (FYBL) but they don't really get started until January.

John is still loving his job and running up and down the road to work every three days. For those of you who don't know, he is a Paramedic/Firefighter for Montgomery County, MD (about 1.5 - 2 hours away from home). He works 24 hours shifts and then is off for 48 hours. In his off time, he is usually working at Frostburg Ambulance Service as a Paramedic. When we moved back from ND, he decided that he wanted to volunteer at the Frostburg Ambulance Service and then it just went from there. He first became an EMT and then a Medic. He liked it so much he decided that is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. We do have a paid service locally that works the 24 on and 48 off but they don't pay as good and the benefits are not as good as Montgomery County. So....the drive is definately worth it. After 2.5 years of service, I finally got to meet some of the guys and their wives at the A Shirft Christmas Party this weekend. Of course, we had to drive about 1.5 hours but we had a good time.
